Care of your lovely vintage felt hats can be easy.
First of all, a sponge or a soft brush can be used to clean. I like using a sponge best. I use a tiny amount of shampoo in the water and wring the sponge out well before brushing it across the felt. If you use a brush, make sure it is only slightly damp. Don't be rough, be very careful as felt is delicate.
Once the hat is cleaned of debris, it is time to shape it up!
I take my large pot, fill it with water and get a good boil going. Shut the heat off, and notice the wonderful steam rising. My pot is the perfect size for resting the outside of the brim on. I steam the hat until slightly moist. Then it's time to put it on my stand, a good wig stand is great for this although I have heard a bowl also works. Play with the brim and the crown to straighten. Let your hat dry on the stand. Never set the brim on a surface while the hat is damp as this will alter the brim.
When the hat is dry, I brush it gently with my soft brush and it is ready to wear!

I like this! My grandmother has all these vintage hats (like the one she was wearing when she was engaged) and they probably need some care!
