Vintage Lingerie

Vanity Fair is probably one of the best known maker of lingerie, underwear and sleep wear.
To me, there are still many vintage products made by this company out there, and will probably continue as it is still being made.  But the styles of lingerie from the 40's thru the 70's are so very feminine that they are special.

I love the lace, the accordion pleats and the sexy feel of the fabrics used.

What is better than taking a hot bath in bubbly water, drying off and slipping into a silky vintage slip or nightgown?  Add clean sheets and an old movie...well, you get the idea.

My favorite bath salts, at night, are a lavender, citrus blend.  My favorite movie would be Gone with the Wind.

Although I'm usually asleep long before the movie ends, it is OK!  I've watched this movie about a hundred times and read the book, cover to cover, three times.  I am lucky to own a vintage 1939 edition.

Cleaning and Care for a Vintage Felt Hat

http://www.etsy.com/listing/71798784/henry-pollack-new-york-vintage-hat

Care of your lovely vintage felt hats can be easy.

First of all, a sponge or a soft brush can be used to clean.  I like using a sponge best.  I use a tiny amount of shampoo in the water and wring the sponge out well before brushing it across the felt.  If you use a brush, make sure it is only slightly damp. Don't be rough, be very careful as felt is delicate.

Once the hat is cleaned of debris, it is time to shape it up!

I take my large pot, fill it with water and get a good boil going.  Shut the heat off, and notice the wonderful steam rising.  My pot is the perfect size for resting the outside of the brim on.  I steam the hat until slightly moist.  Then it's time to put it on my stand, a good wig stand is great for this although I have heard a bowl also works.  Play with the brim and the crown to straighten.  Let your hat dry on the stand.  Never set the brim on a surface while the hat is damp as this will alter the brim.

When the hat is dry, I brush it gently with my soft brush and it is ready to wear!

Plaid Vintage Jacket Disco Blazer Silk http://www.etsy.com/shop/AgelessThings

http://www.etsy.com/listing/67982123/plaid-vintage-jacket-disco-blazer-silk
Punk rock, disco era style silk blazer jacket, made in Italy.

Muted plaid pattern. Colors are burgandy, bluish grey green and navy blue. Slightly padded shoulders.

Blazer is lined in moss green color, but the sleeves are lined in white.

This jacket has many labels on it. One is Seta pura, pure silk, made in Italy. Then another one iPunkt, English-House, Hamburg. And yet a third, Val di Taro, Confezioni, handmade in Italy.

There is a paper tag inside, with what I think is a delivery date of 11-26-73. This tag also seems to have information as to the client, in Italian, so I think it was specially made for someone.

Alas, no size tag.

Here are the measurement which I take laying flat.
Please compare them carefully to a garment that fits you.

Inside around armhole 18 inches
Outside around armhole 19 inches

Vintage

My newest

Handbag Vintage Silver Gray Puff Bag
http://www.etsy.com/listing/67619653/handbag-vintage-silver-gray-puff-bag
This is a small handbag in a silvery gray color.

Vintage 70's or early 80's.

Hinged opening with a double strap long enough to go over the shoulder.

I called it a puff bag because it lays flat, but is pleated at the top and bottom. As you fill it, it poofs out.

The only label is Made in Taiwan.

Don't know what it is made of. It is not leather, but has that look and feel.

There are no rips or tears and the interior is in nice condition. However, there are small areas where it looks like something splatter on it. They are very small, but wanted you to know. Also has aging cracks, gives it a bit of character.

Measures
10 inches across
9 inches tall
